My Oldest ECHO patient.

Performed echocardiography on my oldest patient so far.Patient was a 95 yr old male admitted for BPH.
INDICATION FOR ECHO  : SURGICAL FITNESS
As it turned out the patient had
All valves atherosclerotic and calcified including the Tricuspid which was not unusual considering his age.
There was a mildly dilated RA & RV
MILD TR WITH MILD PAH
GRADE 1 DIASTOLIC DYSFUNCTION
The LV contractility was normal and ejection fraction was normal for his age.
Techicalities apart I asked him the secret of his longevity..
He said wheat n desi ghee were his favorite along with Farm work which he continues till date. He was a stark example that a man is only as old as he thinks he is. And with a strong will power and good exercise and of course being blessed with good genes longevity is not difficult.
Ageing is not in your hands. But how old you feel is definitely the persons outlook. The day we think and say I m too old for this, we have grown old...and age as they say.. is just a number...
